Novelist David Soul returns to his hometown of Salem, finding that things have changed a bit. More than a bit, in fact: the previously warm and friendly community is downright sinister. Soul suspects that the bizarre behavior of his onetime friends and neighbors is the handiwork of oddball antique dealer James Mason. We won't reveal here the secret of Salem; suffice to say that the action goes directly to the jugular, and that makeup artists Jack Young and Ben Lane won an Emmy nomination. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Salem's Lot was originally telecast in two parts on November 17 and 24, 1979.

think Needful Things was a much better book ... and I'll probably be lynched for saying it. :) It's just a personal fav. Leland Gaunt was just more frightening and funny than run-of-the-mill vampires ...

i have had this movie on video for a long time. it is the cut
version which is ok but i prefer the uncut version. the reason i have kept it is because a few years ago david soul made an appearence here in the uk and he signed my copy for me. its not everyday you meet one half of starsky and hutch so i treasure the video.

This was the first SK book I ever read, and after thirty+ yrs. it's still my favorite. I can still remember my favorite line in the story: "She had pimples on her ass as well as her face; pretty soon you wouldn't be able to tell the two apart."
I laughed my ass off the first time I read that, and I still laugh at it today. SK books are like that, scary for a bit and then a one liner that cracks a person up. Awesome.

Thanks for getting this whole movie on here. Im really disapointed though in alot of
things different from the book already. Ben mears had black hair and drove a citroen not a jeep. The Marsten house is supposed to sit on a hill overlooking most of the town and Straker was supposed to be tall and bald.... did they not give a shit haha
